Charlotte Lescott, 32, Ali Watson, 28, and their newborn baby Soulie had relocated from Birmingham to Dubai in December 2020. During their first day trip, the family went on a boat with friends which had the option of renting jet skis. But while in the water, Mr. Watson collided with the instructor and died on impact.
After returning to the UK, Charlotte discovered their life insurance had expired three months before. It meant the young mother had to return to her job as the family lost their breadwinner and was left without a livelihood.
Charlotte is now using TikTok to promote financial awareness, with more than 240,000 followers and 17 million likes on her videos. She notes that many young people do not even think about buying an insurance policy.
For the young woman, it is important not only to preserve the memories of her partner, but also to use the platform to help others, thereby perpetuating Ali's memory.
The UK Department for Education states that financial education is part of the national program, but the state's project requires revision.
