Headache can be a sign of a serious illness, so when it appears, it is better to consult a doctor so that he can make an accurate diagnosis and prescribe treatment, Khoroshev warned. However, very often this symptom does not indicate a disease but a lack of water in the body, the neurologist believes. He told how to respond to the onset of a headache.
“In case of acute headache attack, one needs to remember how much water they have drunk today. If it has been a cup of coffee in the morning, and it is 15:30 now, they should drink one or two large mugs of water or tea. They also need to breathe deeply and intensively in order to increase blood oxygen saturation,” Khoroshev advised.
According to the neurologist, the headache should decrease in 40-60 minutes after the person drinks enough liquid.
Headache may not be the only negative consequence of fluid shortage in the body, he noted. “Many health disorders are associated with a simple reason: we drink little water all year round, this affects the quality of tissue and body system supply, and problems arise,” Khoroshev explained.
