Endocrinologist and nutritionist Oksana Mikhaleva tells in her interview with Gazeta.Ru about what the diet should be like if you have a cold. The doctor notes that digestion during this difficult period for the body should not be energy-consuming, this way it has more resources to fight pathogens.
It is better to avoid fatty foods, red meat and sweets when you have a cold. During this period it is also better to forget about foods with fiber. Such food is useful for healthy people, but in those who is sick, it can provoke the appearance of a number of unpleasant symptoms and worsen their already poor health.
“Fresh vegetables, vegetable salads, a large amount of fruits are not the best nutrition option during a cold,” the doctor emphasized.
Mikhaleva named foods advisable in the diet during a cold:
- chicken or fish broth (as well as chicken or fish);
- baked vegetables and fruits in small quantities;
- cottage cheese;
- fermented dairy products;
- dried bread;
If you have no appetite and do not want to eat, drink fruit drinks from berries or milk with honey.
