Got into the bag: the doctor told what parasites can be brought from vacation

“If the hotel of your summer holiday stay is poorly maintained, living there may threaten to meet with such unpleasant insects as bed bugs,” said disinfectologist Nikolai Dubinin.

According to him, the bugs not only bite the guest but may also join him on the return journey home.
“A tourist can meet bed bugs in bad hotels. These insects run fast and hide well, so they can run into a
bag and go on a trip with you. Bags often become infected with bedbugs, and then the insects in these
suitcases move further on,” Nikolai Dubinin explained in his interview with Sputnik radio.

This can be avoided by arranging a thorough inspection of things before leaving and upon returning home, the doctor recommends.

“If you are sure that there were bugs in the hotel room, you should leave with all the precautions so that
the insects do not leave with you. If I were in such a situation, I would collect things for the way back in
the bathroom; bedbugs can be seen there. After returning home, it is also worth unpacking in the
bathroom as well so that the insects do not run away anywhere. All clothes should be washed in hot
water after that. We unpack the suitcase, and immediately all the clothes is going to the washing
machine”, recommends Nikolai Dubinin.
