As of 12 January, WHO has been informed on 312,173,462 infections and 5,501,000 deaths since the pandemic start. The number of new infections increases per day by 3,395,785, deaths - by 7,735.
The previous anti-record was set on January 6: over 24 hours, WHO received reports of 2,618,130 infected people. WHO statistics calculates only officially confirmed cases about infected and dead provided by states. The mark of 310 million was passed on January 12, 300 million on January 8, 250 million on November 9, and 200 million on August 5.
The highest number of confirmed cases of 61,332,277 reported to the WHO, were registered in the United States, followed by India (36,070,510), Brazil (22,558,695), the UK (14,732,598) and France (12,246,358). America is the first in fatal cases – 833,519, Brazil is the second – 620,091, and India is the third – 484,655. They are followed by Russia - 318,432 and Mexico- 300,573.
