According to Bestow, the Empathy app and premium services are available to people in 20 states for free. Beneficiaries and up to nine friends or family members can use the app to help them apply for payments, arrange a funeral, or write an obituary.
“Emotional loss is a difficult experience. In addition, people incur large financial expenses. And this can last long enough that people need help. It would be great if this help is free,” commented Ben Armstrong, Marketing Director of Bestow.
According to the report Cost of Death in 2022, US families spend an average of 420 hours caring for their loved ones after a funeral. The median total expense after death is $12,702.
“In the most difficult moments of life, companies from different industries, including insurance, must do their best to help families. People cannot be left alone with their grief on such days,” concluded Ron Gura, CEO of Empathy.
