Most often, deaths from cancer were recorded in the Western Pacific region (3.6 million people), Europe (2.3 million people) and America (1.6 million people). 1.5 million deaths associated with cancer were recorded in Southeast Asia, 533.6 thousand - in Africa, 477.4 thousand - in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
The most common deaths are from air tube, bronchial and lung cancer: this type of cancer caused the premature death of 2 million people, by 91.8% more than in 1990.
Particularly deadly types also include colon and rectal, stomach, breast, pancreatic and esophagus cancer.
