“The population of the country as of August 1, 2019 amounted to 18,528.9 thousand people, where urban - 10798.1 thousand people (58.3%), rural - 7730.8 thousand people (41.7%)”, - the Department states.
Compared to August 1, last year, the number of people in our country increased by 236.2 thousand people or 1.3%. The largest total increase was observed in 3 regions of the country: Nur-Sultan (58.4 thousand people), Almaty (50.6 thousand people) and Turkestan region over 12 months.
The Statistical Department also reported that the highest index of life expectancy in 2018 was 76.21 years in the capital of Kazakhstan, and the lowest - 71.14 years in the North Kazakhstan Region.
