The number of pensioners in Kazakhstan has increased by 27.43% over 20 years

The experts of the life insurance company Freedom Finance Life have found out how the number of retirees and size of pension payments in the country have changed over the past 20 years.

The number of pensioners in Kazakhstan has increased by 27.43% over 20 years. According to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, as of October 1, more than 2.2 million pensioners live in Kazakhstan, which is 0.99% less than in 2020. 

Most pensioners live in Almaty (234,043), East Kazakhstan regions (233,109) and city of Almaty (229,994 people), least of all - in Mangistau (55,388), Atyrau (61,252) and Kyzylorda regions (76,423 people).

The average pension in 2021 increased by 56.2% compared to last year, and amounted to 99,897 tenge. The Kazakhstani pension has grown 20 times for 20 years.

According to the Bureau of National Statistics of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in 2020 the largest pensions were paid in Nur-Sultan and Almaty (80,114 and 76,394 tenge, respectively). The lowest pensions are in the Turkestan and Almaty regions (48,949 and 55,648 tenge, respectively).
