In 2016, Diane Curry submitted a life insurance application for a juvenile to Globe Life and Accident Insurance Company, indicating that she was the grandmother of the proposed insured and incurred expenses during the funeral. As a result, the fraudster received 35 thousand dollars. Investigators came to knowledge that Dianne Curry was never related to the baby.
The child, in fact, died four years later, in December 2020, the parents applied to the life insurance company.
According to Bryce Rawson, special assistant commissioner for insurance, the child's death did not arouse suspicion. The investigators, however, were tipped off about fraud from the insurer that provided them with details.
