Among the typical injuries mentioned in insurance claims are sprains, wounds, abrasions received by summer residents, as well as burns from improper handling of lighter fluid or scalding with boiling water, for example, in a bathhouse.
The number of injuries sustained by insured people while riding scooters has doubled last year, which may be due to their growing popularity. However, in general, the number of such claims under accident insurance policies is small.
“Alcohol or drug intoxication has traditionally been excluded from coverage in most voluntary insurance programs, including accident insurance. Alcohol poisoning is also not an insured event,” the experts clarify.
Overeating, which can provoke an exacerbation of chronic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract or liver, also does not provide grounds for applying for accident insurance, since the insured risks are the death of the insured or becoming disabled as a result of an accident. An event that occurs while engaging in dangerous sports will not be covered by insurance if such a type was not specified in the contract, the company experts reminded.
