The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan spoke about workplace injuries

According to the Committee for Labor and Social Protection of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in 2022, 1,465 workers were injured as a result of accidents at work, 203 of them died. However, as of end of 2022, industrial injuries were maintained at the level of 2021.

A high level of injuries is kept in the industrial regions of the country. Thus, 180 people were injured in Karaganda region, 169 in East Kazakhstan, 142 in Kostanay, 112 in Pavlodar, 103 in Aktobe, and 114 in Almaty.

The largest number of injured by economic sector is noted at the enterprises of the mining and metallurgical complex (16.2%) and in the construction industry (15%).

The main reasons leading to accidents are victim’s gross negligence (33.9%); unsatisfactory industrial engineering (29%); violation of traffic rules (9.4%); and violation of safety and labor protection rules (7.8%).
