How much do Kazakhstanis spend on New Year's travel abroad?

The LIC Freedom Life specialists learnt what regions spend the most on trips overseas, and how much the cost on New Year tours to warm countries has changed over the year during the study.
How much do Kazakhstanis spend on New Year's travel abroad?

According to the Bureau of National Statistics with the Agency for strategic planning and reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan, over 975 thousand Kazakhstanis traveled abroad in 2022, which was a 11% increase compared to 2021. It is expected that by the end of 2023 the number of Kazakhstani tourists traveling abroad will be more than 1.5 million citizens.

The study by LIC Freedom Life revealed that cost of New Year’s tours for 2023 have increased significantly compared to last year’s offers.

According to open sources, the cheapest vacation is a weekly rest in 3-4 star B&B hotels of India, the UAE, Egypt and Turkey. The most expensive destinations for Kazakhstanis will be the Dominican Republic, Indonesia and the Maldives.

In addition to package tours, Kazakhstanis before traveling abroad also spend money on other services, such as foreign passport, visas and medical insurance.

The total amount of passports and visas for Kazakhstanis traveling abroad was over 2.2 billion tenge in 2022.

According to the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as of October 1, 2023, the total amount of insurance premiums on compulsory travel insurance was 5.4 billion tenge, on voluntary insurance - 3.2 billion tenge.

The cost of compulsory travel insurance in 2023 is 9-11 thousand tenge on average depending on the country of stay, number of days, route and other factors. Compulsory travel insurance is most often included in the cost of a tour.
