The voluntary return of money was made as part of investigation of the criminal case on insurance fraud. The case is currently being prepared for submission to court, reports Sovcombank Life Insurance.
The man insured under the personal insurance contract died in April 2021. The company relying on the forensic expert's report did not see any signs of fraud and paid the widow the due amount of insurance benefit.
Two years later, law enforcement agencies opened criminal cases against the expert for committing more than 18 corruption-related crimes. During the investigation an episode about the forgery of a death certificate for a client of Sovcombank Life Insurance emerged.
It turns out that the insured has died as a result of ethyl alcohol poisoning, which, according to the Insurance Rules, is not recognized as an insurance event. Knowing about this rule and nevertheless wanting to receive insurance benefit, the widow of the deceased entered into a criminal conspiracy with the forensic expert who performed the autopsy. For a money reward of 100,000 rubles, he removed the presence of ethyl alcohol in the blood from the forensic report indicating a "normal" cause of death, which allowed the widow to subsequently receive insurance benefit and dispose of the money at her own discretion.
A criminal case for insurance fraud has been opened against the widow, which is currently being prepared for submission to court. The officers of the security department of Sovcombank Life Insurance negotiated with her and her lawyer, as a result of which the widow decided to compensate the insurer for the damage caused. In June 2024, the funds were fully credited to the company's account.
The criminal case against the expert is currently being reviewed by the district court of the Republic of Adygea. He faces a long prison term.
