What diseases does fish oil protect against?

She notes that fish oil is rich in vitamins A and D, as well as omega-3 fatty acids.

“Vitamin A is essential for youthful skin, immune health and eye health. Lack of vitamin D leads to impaired calcium and phosphorus metabolism in the bones, which in turn increases the risk of developing osteoporosis,” said the agency’s interlocutor.

According to nutritionist, the best sources of fish oil are herring, halibut, mackerel, salmon, tuna and cod, which can be farmed in deep seas or caught in the wild. “There are twice as many vitamins A and D in cod liver oil, it also contains potassium, magnesium and phosphorus. However, cod liver should be taken in moderation due to its high calorie content,” said Mikhailenko.
