If a person’s weight is 55 kilograms, he needs about 1.1 liters of clean water per day. Tea, coffee, juices and even more carbonated drinks are not included in this volume. “Your body will decide for itself how much water you need to drink. The best answer is that you should drink when you feel thirsty. There are no other criteria. If you want a glass of water, drink a glass; want two – then your body needs two. There is a myth that we suffer from stress, lack of sleep and cannot determine that there is not enough water. In fact, this is true only for young children, people who are in the hospital, or elderly people who, due to their age and illness, cannot take care of themselves,” explains nutritionist Tatyana Razumovskaya.
According to the specialist, there are simple rules for drinking water: you must not allow all the liquid you drink during the day to consist of coffee, fruit drinks, and juices. It is also helpful to have a glass of water within ten minutes of waking up. It is better if it is at room temperature, it will stimulate the intestines, reduce the amount of gastric juice and speed up the metabolism in general.
“If you regularly drink the feeling of hunger, the body will experience stress. As a rule, people begin to unconsciously compensate for it by taking more calories later,” says Tatyana Razumovskaya. Thus, it is much easier to lose weight by going on a diet.
It is believed that water has a beneficial effect on the skin and moisturizes it. “No matter how much water you drink, it won't help dry and dehydrated skin. Dryness is caused by a lack of natural fat. Besides, with age, the skin retains less fluid as the hyaluronic acid content decreases. As for acne, it appears in case of hormone imbalance. Therefore, yes, you may feel the effect of drinking more water than usual, but it will be quite insignificant,” the nutritionist concludes.
