Natalia Tarasenko from Kostanay voiced the concerns of the workers of the regional communication division about the retirement age for the women working in hazardous conditions during the meeting with Ms. Duisenova. Women are the bulk of the employees and their health deteriorates every year, so that, long before retirement, they lose the ability to work properly. For example, a female employer has been blind on one eye for forty years as she has been working with small objects and she is still far away from the retirement at the age of 58. Moreover, doctors warn her against continuing working due to the risk to lose the sight completely. Eventually, the woman was transferred. However, in general, the age of retirement for women working in hazardous conditions is still problematic.
Recently appointed “Nur Otan" Party Secretary, Tamara Duisenova immediately contacted the working group under the Ministry of Labor and Social Security of Kazakhstan, so that it would include representatives of the "Nur Otan" and put the issue on the agenda.
Kazakhstan provides the opportunity to retire at the age of 50 through the purchase of the pension annuity, but the option is only available to those who have been able to accumulate sufficient amounts. Therefore, Tamara Duisenova suggested reduction of the pension annuity for the women working under harmful conditions.
