ccording to the Bureau of National Statistics, the inflation rate accelerated as the annual price increase reached 13.2% in April. As a result of May, food products gained 19% in price over the year, non-food products - 11.9%, and paid services for the population - 9.1%.
Most of all, granulated sugar, fresh vegetables, flour, meat, cereals, potatoes, pasta, fresh fruit, hard cheese, bakery and flour products have grown in price during the year.
According to the director of the price statistics department of the bureau, Kuanyshbek Zhakypbekuly, the annual increase in prices for non-food products in May 2022 amounted to 11.9%. According to him, the price level for household appliances increased by 20.2%, private goods - by 19.5%, detergents and cleaning products - by 17.5%, building materials - by 17.2%, cars - by 16.3%, furniture and household items - by 13.3%, textiles - by 9.4%, pharmaceutical products - by 8.7%.
As for inflation since the year beginning, it amounted to 8.8%: for food products - 13.5%, non-food - 13.5%, services - 4.5 in May %.
