Divorce agreement
If a divorce or separation agreement contains conditions, including life insurance, the ex-husband may be required to continue to pay for the ex-wife’s insurance. This may include a certain amount of money or death coverage.
Children
If former spouses have common children, the husband can purchase a life insurance policy, the beneficiary of which will be the former spouse until the children reach the age of majority.
Alimony
If the ex-husband is required to pay alimony or other form of financial support to the ex-wife by court order, a life insurance policy can be used to secure payments in the event of his death.
Marital settlement agreement
It can be taken into account if the marital settlement agreement stipulates that life insurance coverage will remain in favor of the ex-wife.
It is important to note that the rights and obligations in this context are often determined by court decisions, contracts and agreements between former spouses.
