How succinic acid protects against viruses

The body needs additional sources of energy in winter. Nutritionist Yelena Solomatina spoke about the properties of succinic acid in her interview with Sputnik radio.
How succinic acid protects against viruses

Succinic acid is used in medicine and cosmetology, but it can be obtained not only as part of biologically active food supplements or skin and hair care products.

“Succinic acid is a universal “accumulator” that supplies energy for most of the reactions that occur in the cell. With lack of succinic acid, all metabolic processes slow down, a person feels health deterioration, fatigue, excess weight appears, hair begins to fall out and nails grow poorly. That is, if there is no energy in the body, it is like a winking fading light bulb, when everything happens at a reduced level,” explained nutritionist Yelena Solomatina.

According to her, succinic acid has a positive effect on brain, heart functioning, it strengthens the immune system and increases stress resistance.

“It is important for any virus that enters our body to cling to the cell membrane, penetrate the cell and begin to multiply. Succinic acid seriously complicates this task by protecting the cell membrane due to its antioxidant properties. Free radicals begin to destroy the cell membrane first, and it is much easier for viruses to penetrate the cell with destroyed boundaries. However, the antioxidant properties of succinic acid build the first reliable defense,” Yelena Solomatina specified.
