Astana residents entered into marriage most often, the marriage rate was 7.46 per 1000 people, while the lowest level was in the Turkestan region - 5.55 per 1000 people.
Of those who created a family, 78.2% of men and 79.4% of women married for the first time; the share of marriage registration after divorce was 20.4% for men and 18.9% for women.
80 thousand marriages (66.2%) were registered in urban areas, 40.8 thousand marriages (33.8%) - in rural areas. The average marriageable age was 27.8 years for men and 25.2 years for women.
As for divorces, their number decreased by 9.6% compared to 2022 and amounted to 40.2 thousand divorces. In urban areas, 29.4 thousand divorces (73.1%) were registered, in rural areas - 10.8 thousand divorces (26.9%).
The overall divorce rate was 2.02 (per 1,000 people). The highest divorce rate was noted in East Kazakhstan region, 3.14 per 1000 people, the lowest in the Turkestan region - 0.89 per 1000 people. Thus, there were 333 divorces per 1,000 marriages in 2023 (347 in 2022).
In terms of length of marriage, the largest proportion (34.9%) of divorces is among families who have been married for 1-4 years, 26.7% of divorces are among those who have lived together for 5 to 9 years.
