According to the National Bank, as of February 1, 2024, contributions to the UAPF reached 17.5 trillion tenge. Over the year, the savings of Kazakhstanis have grown by 21.5%, or 3.1 trillion tenge.
Meanwhile, the number of individual retirement accounts (IRA) with mandatory contributions made 11.1 million.
In terms of savings, the age category from 31 to 40 years is leading with 5.1 trillion tenge (+21.4% compared to February 1, 2023). The number of IRAs belonging to this group exceeds 3 million.
This category is followed by Kazakhstanis aged 41 to 50 years with 5.02 trillion tenge (+22.4%); these funds are held in 2.4 million retirement accounts. The depositors aged 51 to 60 have also accumulated a lot of money in amount of 4.5 trillion tenge (+21.6%); the number of individual retirement accounts is 2.05 million.
The elderly population, however, has the least pension savings. In particular, there are 7.9 billion tenge (+27.4%) in the accounts of depositors aged from 71 to 80 years, and 1.4 billion tenge (+16.7%) are on accounts of those over 81 years old.
Traditionally, the main share of money is in retirement accounts of Almaty residents: 3.5 trillion tenge (+29.6%), as well as residents of Astana - 1.6 trillion tenge (+23.1%), Karaganda region - 1.3 trillion tenge (+18.2%), Shymkent - 1.02 trillion tenge (-7.3%), and East Kazakhstan region – 916.02 billion tenge (+17.2%).
The smallest amount of savings falls on the Ulytau and Almaty region, 219.7 billion tenge (+19.9%) and 184.2 billion tenge (+2.6 times) respectively.
