According to earthquakelist.org, over the past 10 years, a total of 826 earthquakes of magnitude 4 and higher have occurred in Kazakhstan and within 300 km of Kazakhstan (earthquakes of lower magnitude were not taken into account in principle). Thus, the annual average is 82 earthquakes per year, or 6 per month. On average, earthquakes occur near Kazakhstan approximately every 4 days.
Earthquakes of magnitude 4, 96.4% of the total or 796 cases were most often recorded. There were also 29 earthquakes of magnitude 5 and 1 earthquake of magnitude 7.
By region, Almaty is the most frequently "shaken". There are approximately 47 earthquakes per year. Next come Almaty region (16 earthquakes annually) and Zhambyl region (15 earthquakes).
For reference: on average 13 earthquakes occur annually in Shymkent, 7 earthquakes - in the East Kazakhstan region, 3 earthquakes each - in the Mangistau and Turkestan regions, one earthquake each - in the Atyrau and Karaganda regions, but in other regions, there is practically no noticeable "shaking".
