Last year, upper respiratory infections, including chicken pox, became the most common among the registered cases of diseases among residents of Kazakhstan, the Statistics Committee of the Ministry of National Economy of Kazakhstan reports.
The following infections were recorded in the country:
• acute upper respiratory tract infections - 3285.8 (in 2017 - 3756.7) cases per 100 thousand of population,
• acute enteric infections - 65.7 cases (65.5),
• respiratory tuberculosis - 42.4 cases (45.2),
• syphilis - 20.4 cases (24.3),
• pediculosis - 10.6 cases (13.1),
• viral hepatitis - 5.8 cases (4.2)
• scabies - 3.1 cases (4.1).
Chickenpox has become the most common disease among upper respiratory infections; 50,381 cases have been registered, which is less than in 2017 by 2.6 thousand cases.
Also, there was an increase in the number of measles cases in January-December 2018 compared with January-December 2017, 2 and 576 cases, respectively.
The number of identified HIV carriers was 3100 cases (2,856 carriers in 2017), including 28 HIV-infected people among children under 14 years old.
Last year, 2 cases of malignant anthrax were also recorded.
In 2018, citizens were 3.1 times more often sick with the flu, but 78.7% less with dermatomycosis.
