First of all, it includes physical activity. Physical activity is no less useful for people of older age group than for young people, especially outdoor activities. Hiking, physical exercise and sports, including Nordic walking, which has become popular today, are associated with the so-called "gross motor skills", that is, arm, leg, and body movement. Any exercise makes the brain work actively stimulating the work of cells and maintaining the bond between them.
By moving fingers, a person uses fine motor skills stimulating the speech center of the brain, which is located next to the center of fine motor skills. Handicraft (drawing, knitting, embroidery, papier-mâché, weaving lace, sewing, modeling), as well as working at a computer or playing musical instruments, stimulate several parts of the brain at once. Such ordinary daily life processes as cooking or washing dishes also involve fine motor skills.
