13 out of 100 Kazakhstani marriages are registered in Almaty

In January-December 2021, 140.3 thousand marriages were registered in the country, which was 8.9% more than a year earlier. The number of marriages in cities increased by 12% over the year to 99.4 thousand, while in villages - by only 1.9% to 40.8 thousand, reports Finprom.kz.

Most couples registered last year were in Almaty. The Southern capital accounted for 18.8 thousand marriages, 18.8% more than a year earlier. The top three also included densely populated Almaty (14 thousand, plus 7.9% per year) and Turkestan (13.9 thousand, plus 3.2%) regions. Least of all marriages were registered in the North Kazakhstan region, only 3.5 thousand, but, significantly for the region, it was 19.9% more than the year earlier.

The number of divorces for 12 months of 2021 amounted to only 19.3 thousand, 14.4% less than a year earlier. The number of divorces in cities reduced by 10.8% per year to 14.9 thousand, in villages - by 24.5% to 4.4 thousand.
