The main product of centenarians is named in Japan

The high level of life expectancy in Japan can be explained by the regular consumption of meat, according to the piece in Toyo Keizai edition.
The main product of centenarians is named in Japan

This effect is achieved due to the serotonin production and, as a result, mood improvement when eating meat, says Japanese psychiatrist Hideki Wada. It is necessary to maintain motivation for physical activity in old age, otherwise the exacerbation of diseases becomes more frequent.

The doctor refutes the statement about the benefits of a plant-based diet for those over 70, and claims that one in five Japanese suffers from a lack of protein. Meat also contains an excess of the amino acid tryptophan, which is responsible for the production of the “hormone of happiness”.

Also, meat is absent in the daily diet, cholesterol levels are greatly reduced, which leads to a lack of testosterone, necessary not only for the synthesis of sex hormones but also responsible for motivation and concentration. It is also assumed that testosterone is responsible for delivering serotonin to the brain.
