- Person starts to lose weight;
- A constant weakness and even fainting appear;
- Immunity decreases;
- Wounds heal poorly;
- Bones become brittle.
What can be done
If you notice a similar syndrome in a person close to you, an elderly relative, you need to help them improve their diet. How? Oksana Drapkina advises the following:
- If possible, visit the person for lunch as often as possible or invite them to visit you;
- You can also consider food delivery;
- Find information about promotions and discounts on foods if a person is worried about spending a lot on food products;
- Regularly remind your loved one to eat a portion of fruits, vegetables and nuts;
- Consult a nutritionist about the need to take multivitamin complexes or specialized nutritional diet;
- Make homemade soups and grind food in a blender if a person has problems with chewing;
- Use lemon juice, herbs and spices more often to improve the taste of food;
- Encourage the person to be physically active. This will help improve appetite and maintain muscle mass;
- Check with your physician if medications you are taking may affect your appetite and food absorption and how you can treat these problems.
- Contact your doctor if you notice signs of depression or alcoholism in a loved one.
