In Kazakhstan information about such insurance is usually hidden, but in the West it creates a feeling of pride, and it is a special element of PR.
So, recently in all foreign press editions there was news that the jump of the famous Hollywood actor Will Smith on the bungee was insured for $200 million (73 billion tenge) in the largest corporation Lloyd's. The trick was performed in the framework of the so-called bungee jumping, i.e. when a person tied to a helicopter with a cable falls at a speed of 120 km/h.
To celebrate his 50th anniversary, the actor decided to jump on a bungee from a helicopter into the Grand Canyon gorge, which is almost 2 km deep. According to experts, insurers received an insurance premium of $500 thousand (182.7 million tenge) for such a leap; they would have covered the loss of earnings of a Hollywood actor with such an amount if the jump caused death or injury.
About a hundred people witnessed the jump: a wife with children, friends of the actor, insurance company employees, media representatives, jump organizers, medical workers and ordinary people who filmed everything on their mobile phones.
Lloyd's Insurance Corporation (or Lloyd's of London) is the largest organizational insurance structure in the UK with an international business reputation and rich historical traditions.
