“We should all do our best to reduce chronic inflammation in our bodies, Dr. Michos said. - Inflammation irritates blood vessels, promotes plaque formation and can cause blood clots. When blood clot blocks an artery to the heart, the muscle lacks oxygen and nutrients, resulting in (...) a heart attack.”
The specialist shares what helps reduce inflammation in the body:
- Giving up smoking;
- Maintaining a healthy weight;
- Increased physical activity;
- Healthy diet.
Speaking of the latter, Michos suggested including the following foods in the diet:
- whole grains;
- fruits;
- vegetables;
- legumes;
- nuts;
- fat fish.
The experts from Johns Hopkins University note that 20 minutes of physical activity every day are enough for a person to reduce the risk of inflammation in the body and, as a result, heart attack. According to them, any workout that warms up the body is effective, for example, brisk walking, jogging or cycling.
The scientists have previously listed five drinks that can lead to a heart attack. According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 1 in 5 heart attacks go away. This, however, does not mean that there has been no effect on the body.
